Affiliate Program Terms and Conditions
These terms govern your participation in the Money Smarts Affiliate Program. By submitting an application, you confirm that you have read and accept them.
1. Eligibility and approval
You must be at least 18 years old. Every application is reviewed by Money Smarts, and we may approve or decline any applicant at our discretion. Participation does not create an employment, partnership, agency or joint venture relationship.
2. Commission
Approved affiliates earn 20 percent of the eligible initial payment collected on a Money Smarts membership purchase made through the affiliate's tracked link. For reference: Monthly ($9.95) earns $1.99, Annual ($79) earns $15.80, and Lifetime ($179) earns $35.80. Taxes are excluded. Refunded, reversed, fraudulent or otherwise ineligible transactions earn no commission. No recurring commission is paid unless authorized in writing by Money Smarts.
3. Tracking
Referrals are tracked with a cookie that lasts 90 days from the visitor's click. If more than one affiliate referred the same customer, the last eligible affiliate referral is credited. Self-referrals are not eligible.
4. Commission hold and payout
Commissions are subject to a minimum 60-day hold from the date of the captured payment, and to verification of settlement, refunds, chargebacks and fraud review. Eligible commissions are then paid in the next approved settlement cycle. The maximum payout per settlement is $100 USD per affiliate; larger balances carry forward to later cycles. Before receiving any payout you must set up a payout method and submit a completed tax form (W-9 for U.S. persons or the applicable W-8 for non-U.S. persons). Overpayments, and commissions later reversed by a refund or chargeback, may be offset against future commissions.
5. Required disclosures
You must clearly and conspicuously disclose your financial relationship with Money Smarts near every link or endorsement, before the visitor clicks, as required by FTC endorsement rules. Example: "I may earn a commission if you purchase through my link."
6. Permitted claims
Money Smarts provides general financial education. It is not financial, investment, legal or tax advice. You may not guarantee or imply income, investment returns, credit outcomes or any specific result, and you may not make false or misleading statements about Money Smarts or its products. Use the approved descriptions and creative provided in the affiliate portal.
7. Prohibited conduct
- Misleading or guaranteed-result claims.
- Impersonating Money Smarts or any other person, or posting fake reviews.
- Spam, including unsolicited bulk email or text messages, and any messaging that violates applicable law.
- Bidding on Money Smarts brand keywords or using Money Smarts trademarks in paid advertising without written approval.
- Cookie stuffing, forced clicks, or any technique that creates false referrals.
- Self-referrals and referrals made through accounts you control.
- Misusing customer or visitor data.
8. Trademarks and materials
Money Smarts grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive license to use approved program materials solely to promote the program. All trademarks and content remain the property of Money Smarts LLC. You may not alter approved materials.
9. Privacy and data
You are responsible for complying with all laws that apply to your promotion, including email, text message, privacy and advertising laws. You may not collect personal information from visitors on behalf of Money Smarts. Money Smarts handles customer data as described in its Privacy Policy.
10. Suspension and termination
Money Smarts may suspend or terminate your participation, withhold unpaid commissions that arise from a violation of these terms, or remove you from the program at any time. You may leave the program at any time by written notice. Provisions that by their nature continue, including payout verification, offsets and limitation of liability, survive termination.
11. Changes
We may update these terms and will post the current version on this page. Continued participation after an update means you accept it.
12. Limitation of liability and governing law
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Money Smarts is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from the program. Earnings are not guaranteed. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, and disputes are resolved as provided in the Money Smarts Terms of Service.
